Walkom Entertainment Lawyers (WEL) is a music and entertainment law firm headquartered in Brisbane, Australia and operating both locally across Australasia and globally. Led by founder Marcus Walkom, the firm focuses on music, entertainment, and M&A, with particular expertise in global commercial transactions, intellectual property and rights management, catalogue acquisitions and sales, complex industry agreements and the strategic decisions that shape careers and businesses.

Principal
As the founder of Walkom Entertainment Lawyers, Marcus brings extensive expertise in navigating the complexities of the music and broader creative industries. Combining his legal knowledge with a passion for and deep understanding of the creative industries, Marcus provides strategic counsel to artists at all stages of their careers, from emerging talent through to Grammy & ARIA award-winning artists, record labels, publishers, talent managers, producers, promoters, festivals and industry executives across the music industry, whilst also representing content creators, celebrities, media and event companies, and film and television projects.
Through Walkom Entertainment Lawyers, Marcus works closely with clients, providing strategic, commercially driven advice and support across the deals, relationships and opportunities that shape successful careers and businesses in the music and broader creative industries.
In parallel, Marcus founded and runs We Are Golden, a management company and record label with a focus on nurturing and developing emerging talent and serves on the board of the Association of Artist Managers (AAM) and the Gold Coast Music Alliance (GCMA).
With a commitment to delivering practical, strategic advice and creating long-term value for his clients, Marcus leverages his extensive industry experience, global network and commercial insight to empower artists, industry businesses and creative professionals alike.
Lauren Holyoak
Lawyer
Lauren brings experience across commercial music agreement negotiation, catalogue management and dispute resolution. She has advised artists, managers, producers, labels, publishers and other music industry clients on a broad range of agreements, transactions, disputes and litigation, including proceedings in the Supreme Courts of Queensland and New South Wales.
Before entering legal practice, Lauren spent several years working and volunteering across the music industry, with experience in labels, live music, festivals and community radio. She continues to perform and release music as a self-managed artist. This combination of legal and industry experience gives Lauren a practical understanding of the commercial and creative considerations that shape her clients’ careers.
Lauren is particularly passionate about working with artists and their teams as their careers develop. She enjoys building long-term relationships with clients and takes an approachable, practical approach to helping them understand their rights and make informed commercial decisions.
